[The Wine Commonsewer] The Wine Commonsewer : 1997 Freemak Abbey Cabernet Bosche: Freemark Abbey evolved from one of the first of the original Napa wineries and was founded in the mid-1880's by Josephine Tychson. I was looking for something snarky to say about barefoot and pregnant women under the oppressive and omnipresent boot of the patriarchy giving lie to historic reality but nothing particularly interesting comes to mind.
[STEVE HEIMOFF| WINE BLOG] STEVE HEIMOFF| WINE BLOG » Blog Archive » Lessons old Cabernet can ...: The 1970’s, 1980’s, and 1990’s each represent generational differences in clonal selection, vineyard managment, and wine making approach especially in California where manipulation was more a part of the wine making scene in the 70’s and much less by the 90’s and I think you saw this in the Ridge Cabernet versus the La Jota. Still it was a great read and maybe next time your group might focus on a single decade for comparison sake.

[Side Order of Sarcasm] Freemark Abbey Wine Dinner at Lisa G's « Side Order of Sarcasm: dipping sauces. We took a sip of the first Cabernet, which they poured first and it was heavenly. We all looked at each other and our eyes lit up, it was a really nice wine, or was it?? We wondered if because the merlot ended up tasting like ass, that made the Cab taste that much better? The quote of the night came from Leannada, who is known for her quick wit and sarcasm. She said, “You have to eat a ball so it doesn’t taste like ass” which is as honest and descriptive as the second pairing was. The second cab was also very nice but it had a price tag of $75.99 a bottle and we didn’t think it was THAT nice, 4 rating for the first cab and 3.5 for the second.
[The Wine Spies] 2006 Wallis Family Estate Diamond Mountain District Cabernet ...: It was one of Californias first vineyard-designated wines, and it was so much better and richer than any wine I had tasted before. I have had a chance over the last thirty years to taste some of Napa Valleys shining stars, but that wine brings back happy memories.
[Travel Eat Love] Saying Goodbye to Napa « Travel Eat Love: In addition to the ”95, we also tasted and enjoyed the 2001 Cabernet Franc and a 2008 Napa Valley Viognier, which was chock full of ripe melon and peach flavors, a summer day on the palate.
[Drinkhacker.com] Drinkhacker.com » Trip Report: Napa and Sonoma Valley, July 2008: God bless Freemark Abbey, which was pouring not one but two library wines, both 1990 single-vineyard Cabernets which it contrasted with 2003 versions from the same vineyards. The Bosche Vineyards bottling was a bit better from both vintages, but at $65 (for the 2003) it’ll really have to be a “special occasion”
