Bordeaux Wine Tourism Not Technical Expertise'

[Avenue Vine] Top honours went to six producers: ChÃ¢teau du Grand MouÃ«ys for Architecture, ChÃ¢teau Loudenne for Accomodation, Chateau d'Arsac (Art & Culture), ChÃ¢teau Giscours (Events), Maison des Vins de Bergerac (Wine Education), and ChÃ¢teau Kirwan for Parks & Gardens. There were almost 100 original entrants.

Wine Tasting Note: Riolite Scaranto Rosso, 1999, Veneto, Italy.

[Spittoon - wine drink and food.] Colli Euganei is a small region near Padua... This is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon but it is not in the Bordeaux style (as I have seen written on other websites).

His family has been making wine for generations, but the heraldic emblem embroidered on the breast pocket of his scarlet shirt belies a more pedestrian past: His grandfather and great-grandfather made table wine, much of it supplied to the army for soldiers, from poorer vineyards nearby.

Upon further review”¦

[Winecast] When tasted just before I did my podcast last Wednesday, I recorded what I saw, smelled and tasted at the time, but this didn’t tell the whole story. The next day, the Kim Crawford Pinot, the best of tasting, really improved with excellent cherry fruit and the Domaine Hering, my exotic selection from Alsace, developed a wild cherry cough drop nose and flavor profile.

Harvest Scramble: Finding Rental Equipment

[Avenue Vine] "Harvest basically inhales all of the forklifts in the local rental fleets," said Sam McHenry, an owner of Accurate Forklift of Santa Rosa, which owns and rents about 300 forklifts of various sizes. The mad rush to find and deliver rental equipment is an annual ritual during the North Coast's grape crush, which energizes the local economy every fall as the wine industry scrambles to harvest the region's $800 million grape crop.

Winecast 42 - “New” New World Pinot Noir

[Winecast] This month’s theme is provided by Jens from the Cincinnati Wine Garage blog who has challenged us to sample Pinot Noir from outside of Burgundy, California or Oregon. So I first thought of a Spanish Pinot Noir I recently had at a tasting that really was different from my paradigm of Pinot from it’s more famous appellations.

[Spittoon - wine drink and food.] Although I enjoyed it immensely I actually preferred the Spy Valley Pinot Gris. (if you roll over the green text you will see the ratings - this one received a 3 for value the Spy Valley a 4).

[Girl Interrupted - A life with Fibromyalgia] I bought a nice dessert wine for my mom (it was her birthday a few weeks ago), and a beautiful port for myself. And a very nice red blend that was very very tasty - and this, coming from me, the sweet white drinker.

Wine Tasting Note: Dona Paula Los Cardos Sauvignon Blanc, 2004, Mendoza, Argentina.

[Spittoon - wine drink and food.] Los Cardos means 'The Thistle' a plant widespread in Mendoza and depicted on the label. It is 100% Sauvignon Blanc with a hint of green to the colour.
