Gourmets of Wine > 2005 Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon, Mendocino
[Quaffability] Heresa new vintage of a wine that was very highly rated last time around. Like the 2004 this is made from organically grown grapes by a company highly rated by the “buy blue” movement.

[Wine & Dine] Wine adviser: Jan. 1: When family-owned, the winery also cultivated a large garden at its visitors center, devoted to heritage varieties of many fruits and vegetables. Fetzer now belongs to a large corporation, but several of the Fetzer children have begun projects of their own, moving farther down the organic road.

[Wine & Dine] Wine adviser - Oct. 23: Forever tagged with the Credence Clearwater lyric (“oh Lord, stuck in Lo-di again ”¦”) and a reputation for cranking out vast quantities of so-so grapes for huge corporate wineries such as Gallo, Fetzer and Woodbridge, Lodi has only recently begun to nurture small boutiques with a hands-on approach to winemaking.
[Wine Rabbi] Wednesday Wildcard: Favorite Bay Area Wine Shops: of them, right? Seriously, we think there’s really no better way to describe it. You’d be hard pressed to find a bottle in-store selling for more than $25, and we have never purchased a bottle there that wasn’t hands down phenomenal. The bottles they sell are way off the beaten path, ones you’re not likely to come across anywhere else. For example, we bought a bottle of Mendocino Pinot Noir called “One Thousand and One” last August, and we liked it so much we tried to get information about the winery to make arrangements for a visit. Long story short, I couldn’t even find a phone number or email address, let alone a Web site.
[Marga's Foodblog] Wine Tasting in the Anderson Valley: I had never been to this part of California before and enjoyed the wine tasting experience very much. None of the wineries we visited were as beautiful as those weve been to in Napa, Sonoma and even the Russian River, but they were nice, friendly and relaxing experiences.

[Three Sheets to the Wind] Vino Mendocino - 2: Lovely wines, especially their top-flight blend, the Gran Reserva de la Familia 2001 which I’ll try to hunt down when back home. They make a super chardonnay which is only sold at the bodega, at an amazing AR$15, so I bought a bottle and later drank it in BsAs with Jeannette.

[Bigger Than Your Head] The Secret of Pizza Is ”¦: This nonvintage blend of cabernet sauvignon from Lake County, syrah and petite sirah from Lodi, cabernet franc from Napa Valley and merlot and malbec from Sonoma County is a product of The Gabrielle Collection of Wines. Robert Pepi and Jeff Booth are the winemakers for Vertex, a robust and full-bodied red wine bursting with hearty, spicy black currant, blackberry and black cherry flavors nestled in a cushion of dusty, chewy tannins.

[Box Wines] Wine Blogging Wednesday #29 - Biodynamic Wine: So, we picked up a bottle of Fetzer Valley Oaks Gewurztraminer 2005. (We’ve tasted a lot of dry, oaky whites lately, and we were in the mood for something a bit different.) Here’s what we found:

[My Wine Education] Cincinnati International Wine Festival In Review: Their Cabernet Sauvignon was a blend of grapes from both Bordeuax and the south of France to create a very nice and interesting varietal the had a nice drink-now quality with solid tannins. Also, the 2003 Bordeaux was an excellent drink-now style wine that is trying to appeal to those who do not want to wait 10 to 15 years to be able to enjoy what a Bordeaux can offer.
