Nero d’Avola - A great Sicilian Everyday Red Wine

[Italian's Insight to Travel Italy] To celebrate his fortuitous rescue Woodhouse went to a tavern, known for its marvelous local port style wine, by the port. He was slain by the Nero d’Avola’s rich flavor and full body.

Borgonero 2001 - Borgo Scopeto - Super Tuscan

[Italian's Insight to Travel Italy] This translates to, “what you initially taste is what you get.” It is also significantly less expensive than a Sassicaia and would be a great choice for those wishing to start understanding the Super Tuscans. Borgonero has a pretty good balance of tannins and flavor and while the alcohol content is 13.5% per volume I would not consider this a dry red.

How to throw a Wine Party

[Heath’s Box of Hair] Always open the champagne or sparkling wine in front of the guests. Not only is it exciting to hear the cork pop (do NOT show off by popping a cork indoors - you will hit someone or break something - always use a towel to cover the cork while slowly twisting and removing it), and to watch the bubbly pour into the champagne flutes.

Biodynamic Wine Blogging Wednesday no. 29

New Year’s Eve 2006, Part I ”” A Champagne Tasting

[PhilaFoodie] It was my beverage of choice for my wedding night, even, which should tell you a lot. We had a bottle of it this past New Year's Eve too, and enjoyed it greatly, as did my brother-in-law and his wife who had never tried it before.

Wine - 2005 Rosenblum California Zinfandel

[More is Less] Given this and the fact that there are good value Zins like Gnarly Head and Cline California Zinfandel, this was a bit of a let down. Of course it is always nice to receive wine as a gift.

Chinese Nude Run

[Spittoon - wine drink and food.] At bit late on this one but Police in central China have scotched a wine maker's plans for a mass Christmas Eve "nude run" which the company said was a public interest event to discourage the use of "excessive packaging" in the industry.

A Trip to the Wine Shop

[Wannabe Wino] I spent a good part of the afternoon nosing around the Curious Grape today. Although it's winter and the more likely choice for wine is a nice heart-warming red, we still like to drink the occassional white, especially on nights where I serve light seafood dishes.
