Target Wine Cube Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz | The Good Wine Guru

[The Good Wine Guru] Recommendation: For now I’m going to ignore the pros and cons of boxed wine (that will be another post at date soon to come) and look more at the wine. The Target Wine Cube Cab/Shiraz blend is very fruit forward, enough so that if I didn’t know it was a 50/50 split on the blend I would think it was more Cabernet than Shiraz. This wine came camping with my wife and some friends, and for enjoying in the great outdoors with some food cooked over an open flame, it was more than adequate.

[Wine on the Way Blog] The Zinfandel is listed at 15% alcohol and it tasted a little hot, but then it was a Zinfandel. I thought the alcohol might blow off a little with some time in the glass if I could just be patient.

Toasted Head Chardonnay 2007 - Full Pour

[Full Pour] I suppose what this is is your basic, standard-quality California chardonnay with buttery, oaky fruit and no distracting flavors (read: subtlety or nuance) to get in the way of your enjoyment. To be honest, this is strikes me as a cut-rate Kendall-Jackson Vintners Reserve chardonnay: if you like that, you'll like this just as well - and not only is the bottle more beautiful, it'll cost you a few dollars less.

O'Shaugnessy Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon - 2005 - 9.2 ...

[James the Wine Guy] This wine is 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% St. Macaire. This wine is beautifully complex and luxuriant. All mountain fruit and a nice admixture to the Cabernet Sauvignon of other varietals for their component complexities. This wine presents with thick tannins basked in notes of winter baking spice, Plum orchard in Fall, underbrush, Porcini mushroom and Turkish fig.

Boschendal Goes Gold with Chardonnay : Wine Goggle

[Wine Goggle] Boschendal, South Africa’s oldest privately owned winery, was one of only three South African wineries to achieve Gold Medal status at the 2009 Monde Selection International Wine Contest held in Maleizen in Belgium. The Boschendal 1685 Chardonnay 2008 was also the only South African Chardonnay to win Gold in this prestigious international wine competition in which over 1600 wines from 70 countries were judged during April.
