[Napa Valley Events] The 2007 Mountain Series Cabernet Sauvignon Sneak Release Party happens on Saturday, February 6th, at Noon-5 PM. Tickets including gourmet snacks are $25 (complimentary to Wine Club members).

However, Tinhorn Creek hung in there, pulling out just a modest block from its 21 acres of Cabernet Franc make room for Cabernet Sauvignon when the winery decided to make a premium Meritage (out this fall).

Matt Kramer of Wine Spectator writes how wineries should be doing a better job telling the stories of their wines to potential customers, vs. relying on magazines, blogs and other sources to do so for them. He points out mobile as a huge opportunity. I agree..and add social media and fantastic web presence to that as well. Your thoughts?

[ricardo] infantile tastes (”easy to drink wines”) and who favor oak to “terroir”(the earthy tastes in many French wines)are changing the way wines are made forever. It seems the small wineries are being bought out by the big corporations, synthetic methods are used, everyone is creating a McDonalds Bic Mac wine that is predictable, doesn’t need ageing, and caters to wine critic Robert Parker’s personal tastes and biases (he loves the big California wines so the Europeans are emulating that model.)

We should all vote with our dollars to make sure vineyard owners and workers are receiving a living workable wage and that they are supported for producing grapes under environmentally sustainable means.
