[A Long Pour {Fifty-Two Weeks With California Wine}] For me, some of the wines that are absolutely fascinating are from forward thinking people that kind of have their little Californian style almost. I am kind of looking at that melding of California and European stuff, but mostly French because I am a real fan of the Rhone north and south and Burgundy.”

[Victor Caballero] The cabernet is sourced predominately from the Dry Creek Valley and spends 16 months in French oak, 40% of which is new. The wine has suave notes of ripe black fruit, currants and mocha.

Raspberry Cabernet Sorbet - Mark Bittman

[bittman] The cabernet is subtle but great. I needed the full 4 tablespoons of wine in order to have enough liquid to break down the berries, but you should keep scraping down the sides as you go to make sure the ingredients are evenly .

2004 Groom Shiraz, Barossa Valley : PALATE PRESS

[PALATE PRESS] I would put this up against any $75 big name Australian Shiraz and have another bottle left to drink later. Maybe the key was 25% new oak, rather than the 100% new oak of the big blowsy fruit bombs floating over from the land down under these days.

Australian Wine Journal: LINDEMANS RESERVE PADTHAWAY SHIRAZ 2006

Cheap Cabernet by Cathie Beck « The Lost Entwife

[The Lost Entwife] Cathie Beck was in her late thirties and finally able to exhale after a lifetime of just trying to get by. A teenage mother harboring vivid memories of her own hardscrabble childhood, Cathie had spent years doing whatever it took to give her children the stability–or at least the illusion of it–that she’d never had.

Wine of the Day #13: Kaapzicht Cabernet Sauvignon 2008 | Pendock ...

[Pendock Uncorked] Why: Slaves to the annual Platter sighted wine guide will be disappointed to not find the 2008 vintages of both the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from this Bottelary Hills stalwart in the book this year. Strange omissions both, as when the Good Value Guru and I popped around for a tasting three months before the guide was released, we were offered the 2008s, both of which are a serious step up on the 2007 vintage.

[East Coast Wineries] First I tried their M-erlot 2007 which had lots of medium and dark cherry, and a health touch of dark raspberry. I nice, medium-bodied wine, this was a nic smooth wine, with just enough bite on the end to let you know it was there, but not to leave you without nice fresh juice in the mouth.
