[Australian Wine Review] Australian Wine Review: Wine Focus Australia: Stella Bella Sauvignon Blanc 2008 - Hugely pungent nose - its like Savvy on steroids, massively herbaceous with a powerful, dry palate. A little OTT, but still brilliant in its mould.
[Murray & Rhonda on the road] Murray & Rhonda on the road - Storms River to Stellenbosch: but we really enjoyed it. We booked a wine tour so that we did not have to drive and so visited 4 vinyards, tasting 5 wines at each as well as doing a cheese tasting and having an excellent lunch. We were quite merry on our return - I think they make excellent reds but was not so convinced about teh whites. although they grow lots of Sauvignon Blanc I think it is too hot to produce a really excellent example. S.A is actually quite cheap to travel in as teh Rand is weak (about 15 to teh pound). On our final night in Stellenbosh we had a very posh 2 course dinner and it seemed like alot of money ZAR 525 - but that is actually only 35 pounds, so a bargain.

[The Winedoctor] Loire Valley Wine Guide: Touraine: The reds are principally Gamay and Pinot Noir, with a maximum 15% Cot or Malbec, and the rosés are mainly Gamay, Pineau d'Aunis and Pinot Noir, although again other varieties may be included. The white wines are principally Sauvignon Blanc, which must constitute between 60 and 85% of the blend, with Chardonnay, Menu Pineau (a little-known cousin of Chenin Blanc) and Chenin itself making up the rest.
[wine-pages.com] visitors wines of year 2007: Comment: Interesting year - spending 8 weeks in Africa (working hard) including a fantastic few weeks in Cape Town and the very cheap and excellent quality food and wines. Also enjoyed a great meal at The Square in London (Yquem 97 by the glass) and also had a great relaxing break with good food and wine (Haut Brion 97) at Hipping Hall near Kirby Lonsdale.
[wine in the 'peg] Lindemans South Africa Chardonnay « wine in the ”peg: Lindemans has always been a reliable brand and this bottle showed off varietal and regional characteristics for a good price. If you’ve never tried South African wine before, I might recommend something else (like the Graham Beck Chardonnay or even the ‘Goats do Roam’
