Gourmets of Wine > Lindemans Cawarra Shiraz Cabernet 2004
[Wines] Lindemans Cawarra Shiraz Cabernet 2004 epitomizes the high quality but very affordable wines that Australia has to offer. Its nose is pleasantly spicy with strong berry notes and a hint of licorice.

[Grapes2u.blogspot.com] Strictly Tastings: March 2006: Medium- to full-bodied, with great finesse, the wine has an intense richness and a long finish." The website says: "This vintage (2002, Rapel Valley fruit) combines the silky fruit (Merlot), with Carmenere (5%) in the mid palate and Cabernet Sauvignons (10%) powerful structure and tannins." My notes: A rich ruby with a warm prune and licorice nose. Medium- to full-bodied with ripe plum, cherry and coffee flavours, a light tannin, and a long, soft finish.
[Vinosense.com] Vinosense » 2006 » March: Half way through the cooking decant a bottle of Cullen Cabernet Merlot 1995….this wine has to be up there with the best cabernet that this country has produced……it has taken on some great tertiary characters….it’s like blackberry and blackcurrant pie, earthy, gravely with licorice, herbs and cedar…..the fruit still retains its youthful sweetness, the acidity is bright and the finish lingers beautifully but there are some bottle age characters coming into the fray which add a compelling complexity to the wine…..I cannot recommend the ‘95 Cullen highly enough……a captivating wine…find some. 96 Points
[Aws.ca] Australian Wine Society: There are only 2 that I tried and they were the Delicato Family Vineyards - Gnarly Head, Lodi - Old Vince Zinfandel 2004 - $17.95 - and found this one a little too sweet for my liking although some pleasant spice and black cherry there. The Storybook Mountain - Mayacamas Range, Napa Zinfandel 2002 - $39.95 - I quite liked but the price is somewhat of a deterrent.
[Strictly Tastings (ON HOLIDAYS - Back August 1st)] More June Reds (8): Canada Pinot Noir(2), France... : Flavours are lusciously full balanced by firm tannins." Winecurrent.com gives it four and one-half star (of 5) saying "Paso (as those in the know call it) is becoming famous for its Rhône-style wines, and this Cab has a little Rhône in it, in the form of small percentages of Syrah and Carignan. The result is a gorgeous blend that delivers a whole raft of dark fruit flavours along with notes of tobacco, spice and coffee.
