[Anderson Valley Advertiser] Asked if the newest leadership has improved the Commission’s effectiveness, Weyrich said he could only “speak to the past, not the future.” But George Lee, a member of the Yorkville Highlands Growers Association, said all but one of the 21 vineyards and 10 wineries in the Association supported the commission. “A vote is the only fair way to learn whether the people paying the taxes are in favor of the Commission,” said Mary Elke, who said she began growing apples in Anderson Valley in 1978 and now grows grapes.

[Insightful Travel] Anderson Valley and Mendocino Getaway | Insightful Travel: Redwood trees lined the highway as we started off toward Mendocino…just beautiful!  Soon we saw the ocean and the rocky Northern California shoreline.   Once in Mendocino, we found the Hill House Inn, where we would stay for two nights.  We checked in and were happy to hear that with the Living Social deal, we also got a free bottle of wine.  We chose red, of course.  We had a garden view which had a view of the trees and the Macullum Cottages across the way.  There was a nice little balcony with two chairs and a small table…perfect to enjoy wine.  The room had a historic feel to it; the bathroom was small but adequate for our needs.  We opted for the garden view room, but we knew that we would spend our time hiking and kayaking to get the real ocean views.

[Wine Questers Blog] Goldeneye Winery Anderson Valley Mendocino County: PS:  Several days after writing this post we paired the 2009 Goldeneye Anderson Valley Pinot with a roasted duck.  We were disappointed. The wine was boring and not worth the price.  We finished only half the bottle.  The next evening we were watching a movie and the wine was very nice.  Go figure.
