[Nico Wines presents] Crazy Times! « Nico Wines presents: we’ll be making a Dry Creek Zinfandel.  This project has evolved fairly quickly.  We found a terrific vineyard to source fruit from: the Oddone Vineyard, on the eastern bench of Dry Creek Valley.  The vineyard is located on a beautiful southwest facing hillside, with well draining stony soils.  The vines are around 15 years old.  The vineyard is owned by Pier and Barbara Oddone.  We’ve been sampling that fruit recently and it’s sitting around 22.6 brix; we expect to pick it near the end of this week.  We’ll be crushing the Zin for this new project at Peterson Winery in Dry Creek Valley.  Peterson is located right next to Kokomo, where I’m making the Nico wines.  Despite the fact that Peterson Winery’s softball team beat our softball team this year in the Championship game of the Healdsburg Men’s Softball League, I’m still looking forward to working with the talented and passionate crew at Peterson.  Congrats on your win, Jamie!
