[Encompass Wine] 2005 Merus Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley): Ultra ripe and extracted currant, black cherry, sage and cedar all work well together. The finish is very long and the tannins are fine grained. This wine is certainly going to become one of the best of the vintage for Napa Cabs. ...

[The Wine Spies] 2004 Farella Vineyard Farella-Park Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon: Most of the fruit is sold to such high-end Napa wine labels as Lail Vineyards, Honig, Far Niente, Pahlmeyer, Luna Vineyards, Robert Keenan Winery and Realm Cellars. Specific rows of the vineyards are held in reserve for these prestegious wineries and Tom sometimes has his hands full with winemakers as as many as a half-dozen are visiting the grapes on a busy day.

[New inventory] 1994 Dunn - Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 750ml $105.00: Even the most professional palate will be inundated with a furious blast of tannin and concentrated cassis and blackberry fruit when these wines are young. With that in mind, the notes for the wines reviewed in this segment do sound similar, but I feel 1994 may turn out to be Dunn's finest of the three most recent vintages.
[Full Pour] Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon 2005: Once you get past the ridiculously overwrought bottle - it's so big and heavy that no foil cutter I know of could possibly work - what you get is a wine that smells, well, expensive: generic New World Napa-esque fruit + some very expensive Bordeaux toast oak. Hm.

[Cheap Eats Toronto restaurant guide blog] Vintages Value List Release Saturday July 19, 2008: Vintages has uncannily hit the mark once again with the upcoming release focusing on white wine. The sweltering weather of late calls for leisure - be it lounging on your deck, dock or boat or staying cool by the pool. All of the above activities go well with fresh, crisp, chilled white wine, friends/family and scrumptious snacks that completely hit the hunger mark. If extreme leisure isn't in the cards - what better than a chilled bottle of white beckoning from the fridge after a sweaty commute from the office? Without further adieu, here are our picks: WHITE WINE 76570 Domaine des Lauriers Picpoul de Pinet (Midi, FR) $14.95 This white is best served with flavourful, rich foods like grilled veggie pasta & chevre or seafood. It is more herbaceous than fruity - an overall good food-wine.

[Gabe's View] Ladera Vineyards - 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: What I liked best about this particular Cabernet Sauvignon is how inviting and open it was immediately out of the bottle. Of course decanting helps it open up and achieve an increased level of accessibility and charm, but it shines from the get go. This is a well-balanced wine that features bright fruit, good acidity and a firm tannic structure.

[cheapeats Ottawa restaurant guide blog] VV List Release Saturday July 19, 2008: 59147 Valdivieso Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé 2007 (Chile) $10.95. This must be well-chilled - but even warm in the tasting room, the flavor belied an excellent value.
[DLM Blog] Gott Wines: Just tasted some of the very tasty and food friendly California produced wines from Joel Gott yesterday at our Springboro wine bar. First about Joel Gott, a thirty something wonderkind who must not sleep at all, along with making some of California’s best valued Zinfandel he also owns the hottest burger stand in Napa, Taylor’s Refresher (the wine crew and I make a point of stopping here oh…two or three times each visit to wine country), he operates the car wash next to Taylors and also co-owns Calistoga’s hip grocery Palisades Market! With the help of his wife, Sarah who is the winemaker at Joseph Phelps, Joel is putting out very good wine at a great price.
