Gourmets of Wine > Pic Wines Tasting

Spittoon - wine news and tasting notes.[Spittoon - wine news and tasting notes.] The plan was to scoot up to London for an hour or two at the PIC Wines tasting before a jaunt down the Northern Line to join Planet of the Grapes for their first public tasting. Sadly the, slightly chaotic, PIC tasting went on too long - I had to give the excellent array of wines full attention after all - so I ran out of time and didn't make the second session. Sorry to the Planet-people; hopefully next time.

We are pleased to pair with Greg Mason of Dux and Euro Vin Imports for this outstanding opportunity to support a local space and local art. http://www.lechai.com/weblog [Turn the Screw] Another treasure from the Languedoc: . I had only tasted this wine once before at a private tasting with importer Neal Rosenthal (ouch! just hurt my toe dropping names). Seriously though, I was invited to a tasting where Mr. Rosenthal was talking about the wines that he imports. Given the set-up and the number of wines we went through, I had no idea how long the bottles has been open before the wine got into my glass. As a general rule, even if I am really excited about a wine (such as this) I won't sell it until I have had a chance to sit with the wine and see how it performs over the course of a few hours. As far as Mr. Rosenthal goes, that is another post altogether. One that will be forthcoming soon.

According to the waiter these were unpasteurised, meaning they were milked fresh from Australian trout (all imported caviar must be pasteurised). Another highlight.

[Vinography.com] Vinography: a wine blog: 2003 Chateau La Roque Pic Saint Loup Rose ...: Frequent readers will know that I have a bit of a thing for wines of the Languedoc, but mostly I concentrate my explorations to the dark earthy reds that are so unique to the area. I came across this wine recently, though, and because it was summer and I was looking for a few nice wines that might go well with some Latin or Asian foods, I had to give it a try.

Spittoon.biz[Spittoon.biz] Spittoon - wine news and tasting notes.: Food and wine bloggers from anywhere are welcome, along with friends who do not get bored talking about wine/food/blogs/internet/eating/cookshops/food-shopping. Grab a blanket (that's to sit on, not to keep warm; although judging by the weather as I write this a brolly may be needed!), make some delicious picnic foods to share, and wander passed the corporate tents to a quieter part of the river bank for an informal gathering.

Purplesunshine.com[Purplesunshine.com] PurpleSunshine.com :: blog: That being said, I will keep going to the Chaddsford tasting room, because their wine classes are really fun (and it's about 3 blocks from my apartment). Last week's class was South American wines, focusing on Chile and Argentina. I really liked a 1999 Catena Malbec, LunLunta Vineyards in the Mendoza region of Argentina - gave it a 14.5. It "smelled fantastic, with tobacco and vanilla tones, nice finish." I also recommend a 2000 Luis Felipe Edwards Chardonnay from the Colchagua region of Chile.
