Pinot Noir 9.20.11 « Winery & Vineyard Blog
[Winery & Vineyard Blog] Winemaker Bruce McGuire was sampling the Pinot Noir. Bruce commented it's not quite there, the flavors are good, the color is good but the seeds are not sufficiently brown and the skin is still too crispy.

Henty Farm Chardonnay & Pinot Noir 2010 : The Wine Front
[The Wine Front] They search for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards with the aim to reveal more of a region that offered us the once-was yet waning brilliance of Seppelt Drumborg and the ongoing halo of Crawford River. They find parcels of top grade fruit from established vineyards, scramble to locate a place (or two) to crush, tip into old barrel or tanks, ferment in small parcels (115 and MV6 Pinot Noir clones), minimally intervene, then bottle.

Pinot Noir is Jazz | OurTownNY
[OurTownNY] The Willamette Valley area of Oregon seems to have the perfect combo of temperature, soil and weather to nurture the tough growing process of Pinot Noir just as, if not more, successfully than even the Russian River Valley. Its neither stuffy old Burgundy, nor is it the out-of-control wackiness of the oftentimes all over the place Cali Noirs.

Sonoma and Napa: New Styles, New Wine - On Wine - WSJ
[WSJ.com: On Wine] I moved on to the wine list, less exhaustive but fairly impressive in its representation of the best Sonoma producers. A precise but generous ”08 Ramey Russian River Chardonnay was available by the glass or bottle. At $50, it was only about twenty percent above retail. In keeping with the hotels eco theme, all of the wines on the list are either sustainably farmed (sust), organically farmed (org) or biodynamic (biod), though frankly Im not sure how meaningful the first designation is. We had an excellent local, small production Pinot, the 07 Lioco Pinot Noir Hennis vineyard, which was listed as “sust.”

2005 Westwood Winery Sonoma Valley Pinot Noir « The Wine Spies
[The Wine Spies] Followed my normal Pinot winemaking: fruit completely de-stemmed and lightly crushed, caps allowed to rise on native yeast in small fermenters, no active temperature control, inoculated with selected yeast toward the end of the ferments, used relatively infrequent punchdowns and long maceration, pressed in a traditional basket and sent wine to barrels without settling. We stirred until malolactic was complete and then left the wine on primary lees - no racking - for over 2 years before assemblage and bottling.

From the Heart » Blog Archive » What makes Pinot noir special?
[From the Heart] These qualities of Pinot noir explain why it is a special area of focus at Seven of Hearts and Luminous Hills, and why we make so many of them: appellation wines, single vineyard designates, and special blends such as our Willamette Valley and Reserve. Each of these is a unique expression of a a time and place: the vintage and vineyard (or combination of vineyards) from which they were made.

2008 Alana Estate Martinborough Pinot Noir « The Wine Spies
[The Wine Spies] Martinborough, at the southern tip of New Zealands North Island sits at 40 degrees south (about equivalent to Mendocino on the northern side) is well know for intense and distinct Pinot Noir reminiscent of those from Burgundy. While Pinot Noir thrives in its mineral-laden soils and cool climate other varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling also does very well.
