Pub Association to ban 'happy hours'.
[Spittoon - wine news and tasting notes.] "Offers like pay £10 on the door and all drinks are free; drinking games; and schemes that encourage people to drink too much too quickly have no place in our sector and we are determined to stamp them out. With the backing of the Government, the Police and Licensing Authorities across the UK we aim to ensure that all pubs operate to these standards of corporate and community social responsibility, said Mark Hastings, Director of Communications, BBPA."

[Boifromtroy.com] BoiFromTroy:Happy Hour halted in British Pubs: British pubs are to ban "Happy Hour" drinking promotions which allow people to consume large amounts of alcohol cheaply and quickly, in an attempt to tackle alcohol-fueled violence. The British Beer and Pub Association (BBPA) said in a statement that its 32,000 members would adhere to the ban on Happy Hours and drink-all-you-can schemes with immediate effect.
[Scribe Journal - The National Ledger: Honest and Unmerciful] British Pubs Ban Happy Hour: The British press cites a Home Office spokesman that confirms Mr. Hastings statement. "The government supports the drinks industry in working towards ending promotions which encourage speed drinking, including all-you-can-drink and other happy hour sales," he said. "We welcome the British Beer and Pub Association's positive engagement with this issue."
[I didnt quite catch that”¦] See? I can predict the future: Don’t give the feckers any ideas, they’ve been talking about a fat tax for some time now. What a lame-ass defence there. Note to the BBPA: must try harder, it’s only your frickin’ lifestyle they’re trying to restrict here…
[Boifromtroy.com] BoiFromTroy: With few exceptions (such as O'Donnell linking Rosen's post he agreed with), the authors engage in a lecture, not a discussion. Of course, getting the Huffington Post's authors to link to each other, and here's a novel idea--other blogs--will require direction, and maybe assistance--from the top. To the next HuPo writer who types something up about the Filibuster Compromise, Andrew Breitbart or Arianna should send a nice little note, saying, "You know XYZ has already written about that, why don't you say how you feel about their post, too?"
[Spittoon.biz] Spittoon - wine news and tasting notes.: "We have been trying to get as many reviews of bars and restaurants on the website as possible and need your help. The aim is to provide a free and independent guide for anyone to look at if they fancy trying somewhere new. As an incentive we will be giving away a bottle of our fabulous new champagne Beaumont des Crayeres to the best review received each month, simple.
[Geocities.com] Fred's blog: March 2005: Just bought a LaCie Porsche-powered 160 Ryan Giggs hard drive to back up my iTunes etc - ordered one yesterday from Galaxy Peripherals who claim in Mac mags to have the lowest prices, but they were out of stock and kindly refunded my dosh. Went to the rather good Dealtime and found another one at Savastore (crap name, but excellent service!) at a tenner cheaper and ordered late yesterday affy, it arrived this morning.
