http://wineamateur.blogspot.com [Wine Amateur] Lamb & wine: Being the amateur wine enthusiast that I am I realize that anyone worth their salt in the wine game would always buy at least 6 bottles, so I just happened to pick up two bottles of Wolf Blass 2003 Grey Label (http://www.vintagecellars.com.au/scripts/wc.dll?product&area=B&variety=Shiraz®ion=McLarenvale+%28SA%29&part=32363 - again just over $20). A 2004 Domaine de Piaugier, Sablet Blanc, Côtes du Rhône Villages ($22) blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 20% Viognier, and 10% Roussanne turned out to be good, as did the 2001 Domaine du Trapadis, Côtes du Rhône ($15) which consisted of 60% Grenache, 13% Carignane, 10% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and 7% Mourvedre.

Aside from some pretty racy 1999 Vieux Telegraph which I was sure would have been way too powerful with our unplanned meal (the equivalent of shooting my cat with an elephant gun), the cellar was Rhone-less.
