[Artisan Family of Wines] Is Pinot the Next Merlot? « Artisan Family of Wines: Thin, poor quality pinot noir grown in climates too warm to develop it’s true character will diminish the quality perception of this varietal with many lesser educated consumers. However, I do believe there is so much great pinot from proper, cooler regions being grown and produced today, and recognized by a more knowledgeable consumer (and trade gatekeepers) that this noble varietal will sit in it’s rightful seat next to cabernet sauvignon.
