[food, wine, beer, culture] food, wine, beer, culture » Science Uncorked - Que Syrah Shiraz: Yes, I study neuroscience and most of my time is spent learning about the brain, mind and how the mind emerges organically from a myriad of different parts but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate science in other forms (scientists also seem to have a natural affinity for Alton Brown, but you can guess why).  So it is a great privilege to announce an event at the Maryland Science Center, the Science Uncorked event.  It’s a great opportunity to really get at the nuts and bolts of wine.  Why it tastes the way it does, how lots of factors affect the grapes, etc.  Sure, ‘taste’ is a very subjective experience and really only pertains to the taster, but regardless of what you personally can or cannot taste, this event will provide you the chance to learn about what is really giving you those flavor sensations, and how they got into the wine (and subsequently, your mouth) in the first place.
