Spittoon - wine drink and food.[Spittoon - wine drink and food.] Gaping Void via Hugh Macleod, sent out a batch of pre-release samples of South African producer Stormhoek's wines in an attempt to utilise blogs as a marketing 'word of mouth tool'. Personally I think it is a little early;

idunno.orghttp://idunno.org  idunno.org: I don't drink often but the wife is partial to wine, so when Hugh from gapingvoid was offering free wine for bloggers I thought I'd throw my name into the hat. The bottle arrived a couple of weeks ago, number 66 out of 75, complete with a Hugh designed booklet and a custom label with my name and url on it. (via Cosmos)

Peter Cooper: Weblog of an Information Junkie: The free wine has arrived, and with it a real experiment to see if the blogosphere can do for a real world good, like wine, as it has done for services like Flickr. Lots more picture goodness if you read on.. (via Cosmos)

Spittoon.biz[Spittoon.biz] Spittoon - Stormhoek 'Fresh Before'.: South African brand Stormhoek is introducing 'fresh before' dates to its rear labels. Initially the Pinot Grigio, the Sauvignon Blanc and the Rosé will be marked with 'To enjoy this wine at its freshest and best, consume before January 2007'.

I doubt it is because of effectiveness, from my own experience those I have worked on have provided good growth in length and detail of the subscriber database.
