A 2004 Domaine de Piaugier, Sablet Blanc, Côtes du Rhône Villages ($22) blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 20% Viognier, and 10% Roussanne turned out to be good, as did the 2001 Domaine du Trapadis, Côtes du Rhône ($15) which consisted of 60% Grenache, 13% Carignane, 10% Syrah, 10% Cinsault and 7% Mourvedre.

[Appellation Australia] Wine Blogging Wednesday #18: My favourite wine store is Annandale Cellars - the staff there are knowledgeable, friendly and happy to spend a fair bit of time with me whenever I come into the store just to talk about new releases or wines that we’ve tried recently and liked or not liked. They have a small but handpicked selection of mostly boutique Australian wines and have been happy in the past to try to hunt down specific wines that I have been looking for that they don’t stock.

[The Corkdork - Wine and Food Musing] WBW #17 Red Kiwis Round-up: As host of this month's Wine Blog Wednesday, I should explain the reason for the topic. I think the true spirit of WBW is to learn something new and before I picked the topic I really didn't know much at all about what New Zealand had to offer in the way of red wines, but was very fond of the ubiqitous Savignon Blancs that seem to thrive in NZ's southerly clime.

Send your suggestions to him by the end of December.

For those not familiar, it's a monthly wine blogging event, where dozens of food and wine blogs all review a wine or wines pertaining to a designated theme.

http://lennthompson.typepad.com [Lennthompson.typepad.com] LENNDEVOURS: As focused as I am on New York wines here on LENNDEVOURS, my buddy Beau over at BasicJuice is focused on not being focused. To call the man's wine tastes eclectic would be akin to saying I kinda like my local juice.

http://www.lenndevours.com [Lenndevours.com] LENNDEVOURS: Long before becoming a huge, raging wine geek, I was well on my way to beer geekdom. While my fraternity brothers were knocking back cases of cheap beer (Keystone Ice and Milwaukee's Best were favorites) I would scrape together every last nickel I could and buy whatever obscure microbrew I could find at the local beer distributor.
