[Maslow 6] Austrian Wine Personalities: While it is hard to imagine having a bigger challenge, even with these two still very much present in the workings of the winery, Gerhard struck me as not just intellectually capable but emotionally ready. In fact, he was named “Sweet Winemaker of the Year” at the International Wine Challenge in London last September, a real triumph.
[Drinking Outside The Box] Two-tiered DACs - what are they, and should we give a stuff ...: After several years of discussions, the Regional Wine Committee Weinviertel decided at the beginning of last September to introduce a Weinviertel DAC Reserve with the 2009 vintage. “With this, the Weinviertel wants to provide the top wines of the region with the successful Weinviertel designation of origin, giving them even higher importance and value,”

[Travel Eat Love] Magical Vienna « Travel Eat Love: It was through Emmy that I learned about the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna Opera House) where Emmy was a young dancer, the majestic Ringstrasse, the big ferris wheel at the Prater, Viennas large amusement park, and the Hotel Sacher, where her favorite Viennese cake, Sachertorte was created.
[Food & Wine: Articles] Is Greatness Overrated? | Food & Wine: When I returned home from Chicago with my still-unopened Châteauneuf-du-Pape, I decided to hold my own dinner party and share the wine with a couple of friends, Louisa and Anne, who know a lot about wine, both great and good. [another wine blog] Weinrieder 2006 Grüner Veltliner Alte Reben | another wine blog: This is one of the easiest things in the world to cook, but when paired with a wine like this it really comes alive. Pork chops, potatoes and sauerkraut make for a very basic meal, but when you add a special wine like this to it you suddenly have very complex flavors coming out that would have gone unnoticed without it.
