[Spittoon.biz] Spittoon - wine news and tasting notes.: Recently long running specialist Allez Vins closed due to retirement and now I find that Modern French Wines - he of the fascinating website - is to concentrate on the trade side of the business. They are clearing stocks in preparation - a sale in other words - click over to grab such delights as Kuentz Bas Pinot Blanc at £5.50 (down from £7.99).
[Vivisjournal.com] Vivi's Wine Journal: OK, so after previously posting on what I thought (as a marketing professional) of marketing wine to women by using stereotypical means instead of something a little more creative I was contacted by one of the main companies selling this wine – Beringer Blass Wine Estates.
[Vinography.com] Vinography: a wine blog: I couldn't help but pass on this nice little story from the Chronicle about the "tasting heard round the world" -- the legendary 1976 tasting where a panel of French judges selected California wines over French wines in a blind tasting for the first time in history. Turns out that this tasting was a bit of a non-event, and the only journalist present was a wine-writing rookie from Time magazine (who happened to speak perfect French).
[Purplesunshine.com] PurpleSunshine.com :: blog: My notes for this event are pretty lame, because I was juggling a wine glass, a program, a pen, cheese and a bunch of other stuff. (Maybe Steph did better?) But some of the other hits for me included the 2003 Edmeades Mendocino Zinfandel, a straightforward, earthy-nosed, unapologetically fruity Zin that goes for $18 or so.
