Winecast 22 - The Big Three Reds

http://winecast.net [Winecast] This weekend’s podcast is focused on the, “Big 3 Reds": Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon presented in the “virtual tasting” format. I also try to match wine to a St. Patrick’s Day menu of corned beef and cabbage and announce a Minnesota wine tasting meetup on June 11th.

Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.

[Becks & Posh] a-Ring-a-Ring-of-Rosés: Thiswine comes to us from France's Rhône Valley and is a blend of Grenache,Syrah and Cinsault, and the grapes are harvested somewhat late according to thelabel. While this wine is not as sweet as a typical late harvest Riesling, forexample, it is definitely a sweeter wine than the Van Duzer. Upon the firsttaste, my mind immediately raced to the words "wine cooler." Not a good initialreaction! But as I dove into the wine a bit more, I found it to be thoroughlyenjoyable.

http://www.graperadio.com [Grape Radio] GrapeRadio - Movie Review: Sideways: To him life was on hold until he got back together with his ex-wife, hence the meaning of Sideways - putting one’s life on hold hoping it will get better. The bottle, like his life, was sideways waiting for that time when he would get back together with his ex-wife and share it with her. Once he realized that time was never going to happen he could not separate the wine from that wishful event. So he opened it up and drank it with no ceremony, giving it the respect he had for himself - not much.

In addition, they are holding a drawing to giveaway five Sideways DVDs provided courtesy of Fox Searchlight Pictures.

[Becksposhnosh.blogspot.com] Becks & Posh: We've spent the better part of the last 12 years learning, tasting, and adventuring with wine. We have traveled to various wine regions but we consider ourselves "brought up" on California wine and really prefer the "New World" wines that often stand on their own. We consider ourselves part of a new generation of wine drinkers because you'll notice that if you've picked up wine as a hobby in the last 10 - 15 years then you're probably like us - raised on New World wines and prefer them to Old World classics.

[Vinography.com] Vinography: a wine blog: California's Best Boutique Wines: A ...: To those whose idea of serious wine tasting involves hitting seven or eight wineries in a day trip to Napa instead four or five, it may come as a surprise to hear wine tasting described as exhausting. Yet that’s just the right way to describe any serious attempt to sample the offering at an event like Family Winemakers. One of the largest (and in my opinion, the best) tasting events in California, this marathon tasting makes available wines from over 400 different wineries, each of whom belong to the Family Winemakers Association. With so many wineries, and each pouring between one and 12 different wines, you can imagine what’s involved in trying to sample even a minority of what is on offer.
